back in the saddle

OK I'm back.

That was the longest holiday I think I have ever had. And it feels even longer.

The chaos of returning is unimaginable. I have forgotten how the remote control works, where the telephone is and the names of most of my friends. I promise no drugs were involved.

I'm planning on pulling the threads of my life back together sometime tomorrow.

Tonight I sleep like a dead person.

Here's hoping my kids do too.

I know I don't really 'know' you, and you probably haven't got a hell's guess who I am, but I've been missing your posts while you've been on holiday, and it's good to see you back. I hope you all had a good time, and that the transition back into normal life is as painless as possible.

I went to a birthday party last night and it turns out that I've forgotten the names of everyone in my slightly wider circle of aquaintance. The sort of mates who invite themselves over for dinner I'm still ok with, it's those people who I used to work with, and go for post-lecture drinks with, that I am completely incapable of identifying.

Of course, they all bloody greeted me with cheery "Kate! How are you?" type lines, so it's obvious I'm the only one who's forgotten everything in the last 12 months.

Welcome back!
I so do know what's it like to forget obvious things after a short break of not being around/using them. Amazing, isn't it? But it just may be an indicator of how well the break worked to reset you.
